Shin Chida
Shin Chida is a Tokyo-based tape musician working with tape delays, contact mics, synthesizer and concrete sound sources. He began under the name Burried Machine, self-releasing early tape-manipulation experiments in 2008 on his own label Rockatansky Records, whose catalogue has since carried releases by Wolf Eyes, Nate Young and Aaron Dilloway. After a decade-long hiatus, he resurfaced under his own name with Sticky Vanity, his first recording as Shin Chida, followed by Instant Pause and Super Bazaar. His current work drifts from early tape manipulation into a murkier, more obscure sound indebted to 2000s Michigan noise, continuing to perform live.
