Seiji Morimoto

Born in Tokyo in 1971 and trained in musicology at the Kunitachi College of Music, he relocated to Berlin in 2003 and developed a practice centered on fragile, unstable acoustic phenomena produced by everyday objects and technological media. His performances and installations investigate the threshold between ambient sound and deliberate intervention, coaxing barely audible events from materials that would ordinarily pass unnoticed. He has shown work at transmediale in Berlin and the Experimental Music Festival in Munich, and has collaborated with Takehisa Kosugi, Francesco Cavaliere, and other figures across international improvisation and sound art circuits.
