Scorn

Scorn is the project of Mick Harris (born 1967), formerly drummer of Napalm Death and Painkiller. Following his departure from Napalm Death in 1991, Harris developed Scorn as a vehicle for heavily processed dub and drum and bass, bringing the physical weight of extreme metal into electronic music. Albums on Earache and Earache subsidiary labels including Vae Solis (1992), Evanescence (1994), and Gyral (1995) established Scorn as a foundational project in post-industrial bass music. Harris's production — dense sub-bass pressure, skeletal drum machine programming, and cavernous reverb — influenced a generation of dark electronic producers, from Techno Animal to Burial.
