RP Boo

RP Boo is the alias of Kavain Wayne Space, a Chicago producer and one of the founding architects of footwork. Coming up through the West Side juke and dance crew House-O-Matics, he was shown the ropes of production by Dance Mania affiliate DJ Slugo. His self-released 1997 track "Baby Come On," built from chopped a cappellas over frantic, syncopated drums, is widely cited as the first true footwork record, laying a template later carried forward by DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn and the Teklife crew. Planet Mu anthologized his catalog on Legacy (2013) and Classics Vol. 1 (2015), and he has continued releasing albums, bringing footwork's raw dancefloor language to stages worldwide.
