Robin Minard

Robin Minard is a Canadian sound artist and composer born in 1953 in Montréal, based in Weimar, Germany since the 1990s. He is best known for large-scale sound installations using arrays of small piezoelectric speakers — sometimes hundreds or even thousands of them, distributed across walls, ceilings, floors and architectural surfaces — that together produce quiet, spatially diffused sonic environments of great delicacy and spatial complexity.

His installations invite a mode of listening that is ambulatory and distributed: the listener moves through the sound, which changes imperceptibly with position and proximity, rather than sitting before a fixed source.
