Robin Hayward
Born in Brighton in 1969, he studied music theory and composition at the University of Manchester and tuba at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 1991. Based in Berlin since 1998, he has pioneered radical innovations in brass instrument technique, discovering the noise valve in 1996 and developing the first fully microtonal tuba in 2009. He founded the ensemble Zinc & Copper in 2005 and has collaborated with composers including Christian Wolff, Alvin Lucier, and Eliane Radigue.
