Robertina Šebjanič

Robertina Šebjanič is a Slovenian artist and researcher based in Ljubljana, working at the intersection of bio-art, sound and hydro-ecology. Armed with hydrophones, she has recorded underwater sounds across the Atlantic, Aegean, Adriatic and North Sea, developing work she frames through concepts like the Aquatocene, addressing underwater noise pollution and its impact on marine life. Key projects include Aurelia 1+Hz, on interspecies communication, and aqua_forensic, made with Gjino Šutić on pharmaceutical pollution in waterways. Since 2023 she has been Associate Professor at the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica, with honors including Prix Ars Electronica and the STARTS Prize.
