Robert Henke
Robert Henke (b. 1969, Munich) is a German musician, artist, and software developer who co-created Ableton Live — the digital audio workstation that has become one of the most widely used tools in contemporary music production and live performance. His role in developing Ableton has shaped the infrastructure of electronic music in ways that few individual contributions can match.
As Monolake, his artistic alias, Henke has produced a defining body of minimal electronic and spatial work since the 1990s, releasing on labels including Chain Reaction (where he was among the core artists alongside Basic Channel and Maurizio), Imbalance Computer Music, and his own Monolake Records.
