Rich Brian

Born Brian Imanuel Soewarno in Jakarta in 1999, he taught himself English and hip-hop through YouTube before going viral in 2016 with Dat $tick, a lo-fi rap track that attracted reaction videos from prominent US artists. He signed to Asian-American label 88rising that year and in 2018 released his debut album Amen, largely self-produced. Originally performing as Rich Chigga, he adopted the name Rich Brian in January 2018. His subsequent work, including the album WHERE IS MY HEAD?, further established him as a leading figure in the international profile of Indonesian and Asian hip-hop.
