Ricardo Vaz

Ricardo Cristino Vaz is a Portuguese artist based in Nexø, Denmark, working across video, sound, drawing and glass. His practice begins in experimentation, playing with materials before developing pieces through dialogue with collaborators. He studied visual arts and cinema at Ar.Co, Lisbon, and completed a Bachelor in Glass at the Royal Danish Academy on Bornholm, working as a glassblower at the Pernille Bülow factory. A member of the SÚBITA Association of Practices of Creation and Composition, he makes expanded cinema using hand-painted 16mm film alongside video installation and stop-motion animation, exploring altered states of consciousness and lucid dreaming.
