Ricardo Paraíso Silvestre

A Portuguese sound artist with a background in plant pathology and multimedia communication, he builds electroacoustic compositions from field recordings and electromagnetic phenomena. His piece Twenty eight is a 4'33'' work built from sounds captured inside and outside Lisbon's number 28 tram, processed through granular synthesis. Unheard, recorded in a computer systems room using coil and piezo microphones, explores the inaudible electrical life of machines. Static Rainfall, a raw electromagnetic field recording released on the LOM label, extends this practice into the territory of acousmatic and radio art.
