Regis

Regis is the alias of Karl O'Connor, a Birmingham-based techno producer and DJ whose work on Downwards Records — the label he co-founded with Miles Whittaker in the early 1990s — is foundational to industrial techno and the harder British variant of the genre that developed outside Detroit's influence. His productions are characterized by extreme percussion density, industrial texture, and a darkness that connects Birmingham's industrial past with the club-music present.

O'Connor has also worked as Sandwell District, with female (the duo with Miles Whittaker), and in various other collaborative configurations, each exploring different aspects of severe electronic music.
