Realistic Monk

Realistic Monk is the collaborative project of Carl Stone and Miki Yui. Stone is an American composer long based in Japan, widely recognised for his pioneering work in computer music and real-time digital sampling — live transformations of pre-recorded material that blur the boundary between composition and performance. Yui is a Japanese sound and installation artist whose practice centers on subtle, minimalist electronic forms, silence, and spatial listening. Together as Realistic Monk, the two bring these complementary approaches into dialogue, working from Japan with an aesthetic that is both technically rigorous and quietly subversive.
