Randy Yau
San Francisco-based sound artist and musician whose practice centres on what he calls action concrete — a method in which impromptu vocal outbursts and organic sounds are recorded, then dissected and rebuilt through electro-acoustic techniques to produce sequences that are, in his framing, organically impossible or inhuman. He was associated with the Cyclone warehouse near Hunter's Point, a venue dedicated exclusively to experimental sound, and has released recordings on Ground Fault and 23Five. He has collaborated with Dave Phillips and Scott Arford, among others, at the intersection of noise, performance, and conceptual sound art.
