Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

Born in Mexico City in 1967, this electronic artist works at the intersection of architecture, performance, and interactive technology, building large-scale public installations that involve participants through biometric data. In Pulse Room (2006) heart-rate sensors trigger hundreds of lightbulbs to flash in each visitor's own rhythm, while Border Tuner (2019) connected people on both sides of the US-Mexico border through giant searchlights that could only activate through cross-border collaboration. His work has been shown at the Hirshhorn Museum, Art Basel, and institutions across Europe and the Americas.
