Pugilist

Pugilist is the alias of Alex Dickson, a Scotland-born, Melbourne-based producer and DJ. His output spans a wide range of underground electronic music, rooted originally in dubstep and bass music before drifting toward dub techno's rolling, submerged pulse. Releases have appeared on labels including Samurai Music, 3024 and Modern Hypnosis, tracing a path from the dread-heavy weight of early UK bass culture into more spacious, hypnotic territory. As a DJ, Pugilist is known for eclectic, expertly sequenced sets built as much for headphones as for dancefloors, moving fluidly between tempos and textures across the underground club and radio circuit.
