Prince Jammys
Prince Jammys (Lloyd James, born 1947) is a Jamaican record producer and engineer who learned his craft working for King Tubby in the 1970s. After establishing his own studio and label, he became one of the defining producers of dancehall reggae in the 1980s — his productions for artists including Tenor Saw, Half Pint, and Yellowman were central to the transition from roots reggae to digital dancehall, culminating in the revolutionary Under Mi Sleng Teng (1985) by Wayne Smith, the first fully digital reggae recording. His Kamila label and studio output represent a massive contribution to Jamaican popular music.
