Pole
Pole is the alias of German musician Stefan Betke, born in 1967 in Cologne. His name derives from the defective Waldorf 4-Pole filter whose crackles and hisses became the sonic signature of his first three self-titled albums (1998–2000), released on his own ~scape label. These records, combining dub bass and rhythm structures with digitally processed noise, were foundational to the Berlin minimal and microhouse scenes. Later albums including Steingarten (2007) and Tempelhof (2015) extended this palette. He continues to release and perform, maintaining both his solo practice and the ~scape imprint.
