Pierre Henry

Pierre Henry (1927–2017) was a French composer and founding figure of musique concrète. Working at the GRM with Pierre Schaeffer — with whom he composed the landmark Symphonie pour un homme seul (1950) — Henry developed a prolific output spanning abstract tape music, theatrical works, and collaborations with rock musicians, notably Michel Colombier on Messe pour le temps présent (1967). His collaboration with Spooky Tooth produced Ceremony (1969), influencing a generation of rock producers. He remained active into his final years at his private Apsomé studio in Paris.
