Pharmakon
New York musician Margaret Chardiet began performing as Pharmakon at seventeen after involvement in the Far Rockaway underground collective Red Light District, developing a practice in which harsh electronic synthesis and physical endurance converge to locate the body at its limits. Her debut album Abandon was released on Sacred Bones Records in 2013, followed by Bestial Burden (2014), Contact (2017), and Devour (2019), each exploring themes of bodily autonomy, mortality, and survival. Her performances are noted for their confrontational physicality, collapsing the distance between performer and audience.
