Peter Cusack
Based in Berlin and London, he is a field recordist, musician, and researcher active in experimental music since the 1970s. A founding member of the London Musicians' Collective, he played in the avant-garde quartet Alterations alongside Steve Beresford, David Toop, and Terry Day from 1978 to 1986. His long-running project Sounds From Dangerous Places collects field recordings from sites of major environmental damage — including Chernobyl and the Caspian oil fields — as a form of sonic journalism. Since 1998 he has also run the Favourite Sounds Project, mapping what people find meaningful in the soundscapes of their cities.
