Peter Blasser

A graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he studied electronic music and Chinese, he apprenticed with synthesizer pioneer Don Buchla in 2001. He founded Ciat-Lonbarde, a Baltimore-based instrument-building concern whose devices — wooden-cased, circuit-exposed, and assembled in small runs — embody an organic and tactile approach to analog synthesis. Instruments such as the Sidrassi organ invite direct physical intervention on exposed circuitry. He makes schematics openly available as part of a commitment to transparency about how sound is generated. He completed a Masters in Arts at Wesleyan University in 2015 under Ron Kuivila.
