Perry Kingsley

Born Götz Gustav Ksinski in Germany on 28 October 1922, he fled Nazi persecution to reach Mandatory Palestine days before Kristallnacht in 1938 and later settled in Los Angeles, where he studied composition and worked on Broadway productions. With French musician Jean-Jacques Perrey, he formed the duo Perrey and Kingsley in 1965, releasing The In Sound From Way Out! and Kaleidoscopic Vibrations on Vanguard Records and becoming early pioneers of the Moog synthesizer. He founded the First Moog Quartet, which performed at Carnegie Hall in January 1970. His composition Popcorn (1969) became widely influential. He died on 10 December 2019.
