People Like Us
People Like Us is the project of British artist Vicki Bennett, based in Brighton and San Francisco. Working since the early 1990s with found footage, archival recordings, and radical collage techniques, she creates audio-visual works that repurpose the material of popular culture with sharp wit and structural precision. Her video and audio works have been screened and performed internationally; she co-runs the online radio station WFMU. She is an exponent of plunderphonics and a longtime collaborator with Ergo Phizmiz. Her work is held in major collections and has been released on labels including Illegal Art.
