Pascal Comelade
Born in Montpellier on 30 June 1955 and long associated with Catalan culture, he is a pianist and composer who has built an extensive body of work centred on toy instruments, miniature ensembles, and a sensibility drawing on rock and roll, minimalism, and popular song. His group the Bel Canto Orquestra realises these ideas in collective form. He has collaborated with Robert Wyatt, PJ Harvey, Lee Ranaldo, and Faust, among many others. His prolific discography began in the late 1970s and has continued to expand across more than four decades, encompassing genres from toypop to avant-folk.
