Pamela Z

Raised in Colorado and based in San Francisco since 1984, she is a composer, performer, and media artist known for works that layer live voice through electronic processing, looping, and gestural MIDI controllers. Her performances combine operatic technique and extended vocal methods with real-time signal manipulation, often accompanied by video projection. Albums include Echolocation (1987), A Delay is Better (2004), and A Secret Code (2021). She has performed at La Biennale di Venezia and Bang on a Can at Lincoln Center, and has received the Rome Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
