Oxomaxoma
Formed in Mexico City in 1976 by José Álvarez and Arturo Romo, who met at the Colegio de Bachilleres, the project made its live debut in February 1980 at UAM Azcapotzalco, a concert recorded for the American magazine Eurock. Drawing on damaged instruments, found objects, and electronic sequences, the group developed an approach blending industrial, electronic, and experimental acoustic music, collaborating in its early years with composer Arturo Meza. Active for over four decades, Oxomaxoma is recognised as one of the foundational projects in Mexican experimental music.
