Ondřej Merta

Based in Brno, he studied Film Theory and Aesthetics at Masaryk University and Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology before co-founding, with Václav Peloušek, the DIY instrument collective Standuino in 2011. The project, conceived as a tribute to the electronics hobbyist culture of former Czechoslovakia, developed instruments including the granular sampler microGranny and the Arduino-based synth fraAngelico. In 2013 Standuino became Bastl Instruments, a Brno-based manufacturer of synthesizers and Eurorack modules now used by artists including Martin Gore and Trent Reznor.
