Olaf Val

Olaf Val (born 1968) is a German media artist and educator based in Kassel. Trained at Kunsthochschule Kassel (1995–2000) and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (2000–2003), his practice spans digital art, video, installation, interactive electronics, and game art. Since 2019 his work has shifted toward climate art, addressing CO2 consumption, algorithmic control, consumerism, and sustainable computing through works such as RE5IDUAL VEGETAT!ON, PAR7ICLES, and CO2Budget.js. He has exhibited at ZKM Karlsruhe, Museum Fridericianum, and Casino Luxembourg, and has taught at Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2005.
