Obay Alsharani

Obay Alsharani is a Syrian musician and electronic music producer based in Stockholm. He began making music in 2013 under the alias Khan El Rouh — lo-fi Arabic sample-based beats created as sonic escapism during the civil war in Syria. After relocating to Sweden, his practice shifted toward ambient and drone, drawing on the Swedish landscape, Northern Lights, and field recordings. His debut album Sandbox (Hive Mind Records, 2021), released as a limited cassette with original video feedback artwork, was covered in The Guardian and The Wire. He also works in video feedback art as a visual medium.
