Norbert Thormann
Norbert Thormann is a Berlin club promoter and, with Michael Teufele, co-founder of Ostgut and Berghain. Their partnership began in the early 1990s with Snax, a male-only fetish party staged in shifting locations including the Reichsbahnbunker. In 1998 they opened Ostgut, a techno and gay club in a former Friedrichshain railway depot, fusing dance music with queer club culture in ways that shaped Berlin nightlife after reunification. When Ostgut closed in 2003, Thormann and Teufele transformed a disused power station into Berghain, opening in 2004 and still operating as one of the world's most mythologized clubs. They also ran the Ostgut Ton label from 2005 until 2021.
