Nicole Lachartre

Nicole Lachartre (1934–1992) was a French composer working at the intersection of instrumental and electroacoustic music. Born in Paris, she studied composition at the Paris Conservatoire under Jean Rivier, Darius Milhaud and André Jolivet, building a catalogue of music theatre, chamber works, tape pieces and mixed electroacoustic-instrumental scores — among them the flute pieces Pottcho I and II, the 1981 comic mini-opera Babylone malade, and the 1970 tape work Suicide cosmique. To support performances combining live instrumentalists with electronics, she founded the Association pour la Collaboration des Interprètes et des Compositeurs.
