Muslimgauze

Bryn Jones (1961–1999) was a British electronic musician from Salford who released music under the name Muslimgauze from 1982, initially in response to Israel's invasion of Lebanon that year. Working largely in isolation in Manchester, he produced more than ninety albums on dozens of labels, combining polyrhythmic percussion, ambient electronics, dub structures, and samples of music from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia to address geopolitical tensions in the Muslim world. He performed live fewer than a dozen times, never visited the Middle East, and died in Manchester in January 1999 from a fungal blood infection.
