Múm

Múm are an Icelandic electronic group formed in Reykjavík in 1997, initially a duo of twin brothers Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir alongside Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason. Their early releases on FatCat Records — particularly Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK (2000) and Finally We Are No One (2002) — established a sound of extraordinary delicacy: glitchy electronics, glockenspiel, violin, and childlike vocals layered into quietly magical compositions. Their work was influential in indie electronic and post-rock circles. The Valtýsdóttir sisters left the group; Múm has continued with changing members but consistent sensibility.
