Mira Calix

Born Chantal Passamonte in Durban, South Africa in 1969, she was a composer and electronic musician who relocated to London in 1991 and signed to Warp Records, releasing her debut EP Ilanga in 1996. Her debut album One on One followed in 2000. Treating sound as sculptural material, her work combined intimate vocals, electronic textures, field recording, and chamber instrumentation. She toured with Radiohead, Boards of Canada, and Autechre, and performed at Glastonbury, Sónar, and All Tomorrow's Parties. She died in March 2022 at the age of 52, leaving a body of work that expanded consistently across two decades.
