Milan Adamčiak

Born in Ružomberok, Slovakia in 1946, he was a composer, musicologist, and conceptual artist who became a central figure in experimental music and visual poetry in Central Europe. He studied cello at the Conservatory in Žilina and musicology at Comenius University Bratislava, and from 1972 worked as a researcher at the Institute of Musical Studies of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. His graphic scores, sound objects, and action art projects connected him to the international Fluxus network, and he maintained a personal artistic friendship with John Cage across the Iron Curtain from the mid-1960s.
