Michael Pollard
Manchester-based musician and sound artist whose practice spans site-specific recording, acousmatic composition, and spatial audio. His 2012 release Translations 01 on Spectrum Spools documents a series of material and spatialisation studies, including a hydrophone buried beneath sand in a lake and recorded to MiniDisc, and a piece derived from pencil rubbing with contact microphones attached to a wall. Audio was mastered by Russell Haswell and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates and Mastering. His approach treats recording as investigation, attending to texture and resonance as primary material.
