Mercedes Gaviria Jaramillo

Mercedes Gaviria Jaramillo (born 1992, Medellín, Colombia) is a Colombian film director and sound artist. Daughter of filmmaker Víctor Gaviria, she moved to Buenos Aires to study cinematographic direction at FUC, where she later became a professor of sound. Her short films include Polvo de Barro (2013) and Silencio antes (2016), and her first feature Como el cielo después de llover premiered at Visions du Réel in 2020. She has won Best Sound awards at BAFICI and runs Atalante, a sound post-production studio.
