Matija Schellander
Composer and double bass player born in 1981 in Ludmannsdorf-Bilčovs, Austria, who studied double bass at the Conservatory of Vienna and computer music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He works across new music, electroacoustic composition, theatre, contemporary dance, and film, combining double bass with modular synthesizer and speakers. With Maja Osojnik he forms the electro-acoustic duo Rdeča Raketa, and is a member of the Low Frequency Orchestra alongside Angelica Castello, Thomas Grill, and Osojnik. His influences span musique concrète, hip-hop, techno, jazz, and early music, producing a practice centered on timbre, sampling, and the spatial movement of sound.
