Mat Pogo

Vocalist and cartoonist born in Rome in 1970, now resident in Berlin, active in experimental music since the mid-1980s when he began singing in free-form rock bands. In 1990 he co-founded Burp Enterprise, a multimedia collective originally based in Florence. In 1995 he co-founded Jealousy Party with percussionist Roberta WJM Andreucci and reed player Edoardo Ricci, a Berlin-based unit that fuses improv, noise, avant-rock, and electronic collage. His solo practice deploys voice, microphone, and electronics to produce processed vocal eruptions, pitched mouth-cavity sounds, and sampled fragments within a sound world that moves fluidly between physical intensity and a sharp sense of humor.
