Martin Supper

German composer and musicologist born in 1947 who shaped electroacoustic education in Germany across three decades at the Berlin University of the Arts. After studying theoretical computer science, linguistics, and systematic musicology in Berlin, he spent two years at the Instituut voor Sonologie in Utrecht under Gottfried Michael Koenig. From 1985 to 2017 he headed the UNI.K Studio for Sonic Arts and Sound Research at UdK, and from 2009 to 2015 directed its Sound Studies postgraduate programme. His book Elektroakustische Musik und Computermusik remains a standard reference surveying the history, aesthetics, and methods of computer and electroacoustic composition.
