Marja Ahti

Born in Luleå, Sweden in 1981, Marja Ahti is a Swedish-Finnish sound artist based in Turku, Finland. Working with field recordings, analog synthesis — including Buchla and ARP synthesizers — electronic feedback, and acoustic instrumentation, she builds electroacoustic environments that approach sound as both form and poetic medium. Her debut LP Vegetal Negatives (Hallow Ground, 2019) drew on recordings made in Greece, Alaska, Finland and Sweden; The Current Inside (Hallow Ground, 2020) followed, alongside Still Lives (Students of Decay, 2021). She also works as the duo Ahti & Ahti with Niko-Matti Ahti.
