Marisol Jimenez

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1978, Marisol Jiménez holds a Master of Arts from Mills College and a doctorate in composition from Stanford University, where she studied with Brian Ferneyhough and Mark Applebaum. Now based in Berlin, her practice encompasses instrumental and electroacoustic composition, sound installation, and self-made instruments including large suspended springs she calls "noise spring harps," used in works such as Mesetas (2010) and Sensuous Matter (2018). She founded and directs the ARTSON Festival for Contemporary Music in Guadalajara and is a member of the Mexican Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte.
