Marina Rosenfeld
Marina Rosenfeld (b. 1968) is an American composer and sound artist whose practice explores the spatial, social, and perceptual dimensions of sound through installation, performance, and composition. She is best known for her sheer frost orchestra — a project in which electric guitarists, using nail polish as a preparation, collectively produce an expansive ambient drone whose character is set by the configuration of players in each performance. Later works, including Teenage Lontano and the P.A. sound system pieces staged at the Park Avenue Armory, extend this into amplified, site-specific contexts treating sound and voice as spatial and social phenomena.
