Marco Montiel-Soto

Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1976, Marco Montiel-Soto studied photography in Venezuela before earning a Master's degree in Sound Art from the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2011, where he is based. His work — spanning video, installation, sound, drawing, and found objects — carries an ongoing anthropological reflection on the Tropics, migration, and the poetics of homeland, myth, and economy. He has participated in residencies in Chile, Spain, and Italy and presented work internationally. His practice is shaped by what he describes as being both a traveller and an immigrant, constantly returning forward.
