Marcellvs L.

Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1980, Marcellvs L. is a video and sound artist who has lived between Berlin and Seyðisfjörður, Iceland since 2006. His installations use moving image and sound to enact what he describes as a "slow ontology," placing ordinary objects and situations into states of extended duration that seem to detach them from ordinary time — a practice informed by Henri Bergson's philosophy of duration. He has participated in the 27th Bienal de São Paulo (2006), the 9th Bienal de Lyon (2007), and the 16th Biennale of Sydney (2008), and received the ars viva prize for Sound in 2007.
