Maja Ratkje

Maja Ratkje (born 1973) is a Norwegian composer, vocalist, and electronic musician based in Oslo. A founding member of the improvisational quartet SPUNK and the duo Fe-Mail, she developed a practice centred on extended vocal technique and live electronics — producing work that ranges from noise and free improvisation to commissioned orchestral composition. Her solo Voice (2002) on Rune Grammofon is a landmark of extended vocal performance. She has received numerous Norwegian and international commissions and awards, and collaborates extensively with visual artists and choreographers.
