M.A. Numminen
Mauri Antero Numminen (born 1940) is a Finnish singer, songwriter, author, and avant-gardist whose career is characterised by irreverence, linguistic invention, and a deep engagement with Finnish popular song alongside its systematic dismantling. He is best known internationally for his settings of Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus as sung tango — an absurdist collision of Austrian philosophy and Finnish dance music that nonetheless generates unexpected emotional truth. He has released dozens of records spanning comic song, experimental music, and social commentary, occupying a unique space between cabaret, conceptual art, and popular song.
