Luis E. Cárcamo-Huechante
Luis E. Cárcamo-Huechante is a Mapuche scholar, musician, and filmmaker. Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of the Program in Native American and Indigenous Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, he is also a founding member of Comunidad de Historia Mapuche, a collective of Mapuche researchers and activists based in southern Chile. His research addresses sound studies, colonialism, and decolonization, culminating in Acoustic Colonialism: Acts of Mapuche Interference (Duke University Press). His music and film work has been presented internationally.
