Louise MacKenzie

Louise Mackenzie is a UK-based artist working across bio-art, new media, sculpture, installation and sound, based in the North East of England. She holds a PhD in Fine Art from Northumbria University and directs ASCUS Art and Science in Edinburgh while lecturing in Contemporary Art Practice at DJCAD, University of Dundee. Her collaborative, process-based work treats life itself as material, engaging synthetic biology and the emotional weight of laboratory practice. Pithos, an ongoing series of sculptural, bio-media and audio works, has shown at BALTIC 39 and Edinburgh International Science Festival. She was a finalist for the Bio Art and Design Awards in 2015.
